Bec Grulke ... Owner/Principal/Director/Senior School Principal
Bec began her dance training at an early age where she studied various styles of dance. Due to the constant moving of her family, she has gained the skill of being able to interpret the different techniques of various teachers. Through many years of schooling , Rebekah excelled in the area of drama which has furthered her experience with emoting in the performance of dance. Bec completed a 2 year full time dance course, during this she was introduced to contemporary dance and different ways of connecting through the body. During her full time training, Bec was asked to perform as a soloist in PROJECTion Dance Company’s tour to New Zealand. In December 2010, Rebekah graduated from her 2 year course and was offered a contract with PROJECTion Dance. Bec's favourite style of dance is Lyrical. Many of her troupes and soloists have had incredible results with eisteddfods and competitions throughout the region and down near Melbourne. She loves working with children and sharing her passion for all thing dance.
Elli Knobloch ... Teacher/Acro Coach
Born in Wodonga, Elli started her dance training at a young age of 5 years old. Performing in a large range of styles including; ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, tap and musical theatre. Over the years Elli has completed Royal Academy Of Dance ballet exams up to intermediate level where she revived a distinction, and holds a certificate II & III in dance, a certificate IV in dance teaching and management. She is also a qualified acro teacher with acrobaticarts.
Elli has been very involved in the dance community over the years competing in local and state competitions, dancing in relay for life events, Christmas carols, fundraisers and being a part of the state school specular. As a young student Elli danced with the Russian ballet company and In 2018 she also had the incredible opportunity to perform at Disney world Orlando and aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise line in the Bahamas. In 2020 Elli danced for pop-star Katy Perry at the International Women’s Day Cricket World Cup performing in front of 87,000 people.
At the age of 16 Elli held a student teacher position at Hume Dance School and ever since has become very passionate about sharing her knowledge and expanding her teaching skills. Shortly after becoming a fully certified dance teacher, Elli is very excited to be teaching across many regional dance schools in various styles from ages 2 year olds to adults. Elli’s goal as a teacher is to teach safe dance practices and provide high quality dance education to all of her students.
Yvette Hawkins ... Teacher
Dancing has been a huge part of Yvettes life for the past 20+ years. Her favourite styles are Ballet, Tap and Jazz. She loves that it brings people together and lifelong friendships can be made. Outside of dancing, Yvette is a librarian. The past 2 years teaching at Hume for Yvette has been a blast and she cannot wait to see what great this all the students will do.
Alyssa Kupa ... Teacher
I started dancing when I was 5 but later took a break to play sports then started getting back into dancing in 2014 when I started cheerleading at HDS, then began competing not long after. This will be my second season with HDS.I just completed my VCE and have my cert III in Dance. This year I am studying my Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Studio Management. I have been teaching hip hop at different studios in the area for the past two years as it’s my favourite style.I work well with kids and in 2017 I was a finalist at the Red Carpet Youth Awards in the Performing Arts and Youth Ambassador sections for my dance teaching work. I’m looking forward to getting the chance to teach at another school because each studio has a different environment.
Bronwyn Robertson ... Ballroom
Bronwyn started ballet at the age of 4 and had always danced. Throughout her childhood and teenage years Bronwyn has also learnt jazz, tap and many other theatrical styles. Bronwyn started ballroom at the age of 11 and has danced competitively at a national level. Living in Albury meant she would travel to Melbourne for lessons and also to compete all over Australia. Bronwyn was the youngest contestant to dance on the ABC series 'That's Dancin' with her brother. She was 13 at the time. Bronwyn has a passion for working with children and also enjoys the adult social classes where she is not so restricted to syllabus. Bronwyn has worked hard to achieve her Accredited Dance Sport Competition Latin Adjudicators Certificate, and continues to study New Vogue and started to bring knowledge to all her students. Bronwyn plans to introduce Debutant Training , Bridal couples and much more to HDS.
